TANGERANG, December 17, 2025 - The IPA Convention and Exhibition (“IPA Convex”) in 2026 is more than an annual conference and exhibition in the energy sector. Next year marks its fifth decade-a long journey that has established IPA Convex as a premier platform for the upstream oil and gas (O&G) industry in Indonesia, in particular, and Southeast Asia in general. IPA Convex has witnessed key milestones and shifts in national leadership in energy management and is expected to serve as a navigator in shaping the future of Indonesia’s energy self-sufficiency.
Hariadi Budiman, Chairperson of the 50th IPA Convex 2026 Committee, emphasised that this 50th edition will be a grand celebration built on the spirit of collaboration to achieve future national energy self-sufficiency. “This special edition is not only for IPA but for the entire oil and gas industry. The government has made energy and food security national priorities. Therefore, we want to make this milestone event truly special, supported wholeheartedly by all stakeholders,” he stated at the IPA Convex 2026 Exhibition and Sponsorship Launch for IPA Associate Members and the public in Jakarta recently.
According to him, throughout its 49th editions, IPA Convex has consistently served as the central forum for discussions in the national energy sector, bringing together key stakeholders—regulators, investors, academics, and even students who will one day become the next generation of industry leaders. The event has contributed to numerous strategic initiatives and new policies that have shaped the governance and direction of Indonesia’s energy sector.
Meanwhile, Chief of the Sponsorship, Exhibition, and Registration Sub-Committee of IPA Convex 2026, Septiana Dewi, outlined the scale of the upcoming event, which will be held on 20–22 May 2026 at ICE BSD City, Tangerang. More than 300 exhibiting companies, 35,000 visitors, 3,000 delegates, and 1,800 students are expected to attend the event. IPA Convex 2026 will also present 12 convention sessions, 180 technical program sessions, nine youth programs, and several new zones focusing on AI, digital technologies, renewable energy, and innovative energy solutions. The grand theme for IPA Convex 2026 is “50 Years of Energy Partnership: Shaping the Next Era for Advancing Growth.”
For five decades, IPA Convex has thrived on cross-institutional, cross-sector, and cross-generational collaboration. The government, including the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, the Directorate General of Oil and Gas, SKK Migas, the Aceh Oil and Gas Management Agency, and the Ministry of Finance through the Directorate General of Taxes, along with oil and gas companies and service providers, has always played an important role in making this forum a key place for discussions that aim to improve Indonesia’s oil and gas investment appeal while meeting production goals despite global and local challenges.
Beyond regulators and investors, IPA Convex also embraces professionals and academics eager to present and publish research on key topics relevant to the energy sector. As a result, hundreds of technical presentations—delivered both orally and through poster sessions—remain among the most anticipated segments of the event. Recently, the committee has broadened engagement with universities and students through various youth programs such as IPA Goes to Campus, the Student Debate Competition, and more.
The dialogue across sectors continues to expand, particularly on emerging topics such as carbon capture and storage (CCS), whose implementation is closely interlinked with multiple industries. Amid global demands for cleaner upstream energy production, initiatives like CCS demonstrate the adaptability of the oil and gas sector to evolving times while ensuring that Indonesia remains attractive to investors.
Fifty years have passed. The 50th IPA Convex is not the culmination of a journey but the beginning of a new chapter. IPA Convex will remain relevant—and become even more crucial—in supporting the government’s ambitious targets under President Prabowo Subianto, including 8% economic growth, gas-based energy self-sufficiency, and food self-sufficiency.
Today, IPA Convex is poised to enter a new decade—bigger, bolder, and more strategic. For energy is not merely a matter of resources, but of sovereignty, the future, and the sustainability of the nation.
